Smithfield is the hub of the Cairns Northern Beaches.

Located midway between the City of Cairns & and the beautiful Northern Beaches. The Northern Beaches are made up of 8 beaches stretched between Cairns and Port Douglas. Smithfield is located at the bottom of the Kuranda Range, 5 minutes from the Cairns international/domestic airport and 10 minutes drive to Cairns City.

Centered around a large shopping centre with regular and specialty stores. With major retailers Coles, Woolworths & Kmart plus over 100 specialty retailers Smithfield Centre is the largest shopping centre north of Cairns City. On the eastern side of the highway, commercial developments and fast food outlets abound.

Smithfield is home to some of Tropical North Queensland's biggest and most successful tourist attractions including Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park, Skyrail, AJ Hackett Bungy & Cable Ski Park.The famous Kuranda Scenic train can be seen making its way up the mountain.
